Discover a legendary LA sports bar in the heart of LAAC. Located on our second floor, Duke’s provides a classic dining experience infused with athletic history and Los Angeles heritage. Enjoy snacks, salads, sandwiches, and cold refreshments as you take in the latest games in a lively atmosphere.
Originally called the Beefsteak Room, Duke’s Sports Bar was founded in 1996 in honor of Richard “Duke” Llewellyn, a Los Angeles Athletic Club legend. Duke joined LAAC in the 1940s, became its athletic director in 1956, and helped to create the John R. Wooden Award. A boxer in the US Army, Duke dedicated his lifelong career to sports. His great capacity for friendship and devotion to LAAC made him one of its best-known, most well-loved members.
