Yoga is an ancient discipline that people have gravitated to as a source of physical fitness, mental well-being, and spiritual renewal since its establishment in India thousands of years ago. There are many styles of yoga, all of which derive healing benefits from a focused attention to deep breathing, mental clarity, and body positioning.
The Los Angeles Athletic Club is offering two new Meditation Classes.
Meditation For Modern Survival Wednesdays | 7:10am-7:35am Learn simple meditation techniques to be centered and calm in a stressful world. Class is appropriate for all skill levels.
Meditation and Yin Yoga Thursdays | 7:15pm-8:05pm This class combines breathing and the soft movement of yin yoga with quiet time for Meditation. You will peel away layers of stress and tightness in your body and mind, revealing your joyful and peaceful heart center. Beginners and advance students are welcome.
The Club’s yoga studio features a tranquil setting and some of the top instructors in the area.
*Flow Yoga | Flow yoga practice uses postures in a flowing manner, connecting each with the breathing cycle.
Power Yoga | Power Yoga is a vigorous and dynamic approach to yoga. Flowing progressive yoga postures, meditative awareness and breath control are used to strengthen mind and body. Class is geared toward the more advanced yoga student. Six months – One year highly recommended.
*Hatha Yoga | Postures (asana) are used to help students increase strength, flexibility and balance. This class focuses on breath (pranayama) control and body alignment. Class ends with savasana (relaxation pose)
*Restorative Yoga | A relaxation method that focuses on relaxing the body and mind through a series of gentle movements and stretches that are coordinated with breath control.
Athletic Inspired Yoga | A power yoga class specifically designed athletes looking to stretch and strengthen the mind-body connection. An exploration of breath and movement to enhance your daily athletic performance.
*Intro to Power Flow Yoga | This yoga practice uses postures in a flowing manner, connecting each posture with a breath.
*Vinyasa Flow Yoga | This class focuses on synchronizing your breath with your movement. You will move from pose to pose on your inhale or exhale in a smooth, flowing sequence. Class ends with savasana (relaxation pose)
